The East Picnic Area at Big Hollow features two shelter houses available for daily reservations. The area is located at the very east end of Big Hollow Drive, at the intersection of several hiking trails. There are two ponds and access to the lake within a short walk of the area.

  • Hickory Shelter House, the larger of the two, is semi-enclosed and can comfortably fit 8-10 picnic tables. It is located north of the parking area, close to the restroom. It has a fire ring and grill behind it and is centered in the group camping area, which is also available for reservation along with the shelter. Hickory Shelter House is popular among scout groups.
  • Cedar Shelter House, the smaller of the two, is located south of the parking lot. It features a grill and a smaller fire ring.
