Our journey begins at the Flint River Trail parking lot, conveniently situated just south of Hickory Bend Recreation Area. But fret not if you're unsure about finding the starting point – we've got you covered. Meet us at 8:30 AM at the Starr's Cave parking lot, where our knowledgeable naturalist will lead a caravan to the trailhead. Alternatively, hop on our van for a ride straight to the starting point.

For those eager to head directly to the trailhead, here are simple directions: From Highway 61, venture west on Iowa City Road for approximately 1.6 miles until the road veers north. Take a left (west) onto 155th St. and continue for about 2 miles. At the stop sign, turn right (north) and proceed for approximately 0.3 miles. You'll spot the access road on your left – follow it to our meeting point.

To ensure a seamless experience and cater to everyone's needs, registration is mandatory. With a limited number of bikes available, it's essential to secure your spot by calling the Starr's Cave Nature Center at 319-753-5808. Don't miss out on this opportunity to pedal alongside fellow nature enthusiasts.

Our route spans approximately 8 miles, encompassing the Flint River Trail and gravel roads. While the terrain remains largely flat, be mindful that shade is scarce. This out-and-back ride offers flexibility, allowing participants to depart whenever they choose. Remember to pack water to stay hydrated and dress appropriately for the weather – safety is paramount, and helmets are mandatory throughout the ride.

In the event of inclement weather, rest assured that your safety is our top priority, and the ride will be canceled. Please note that no maintenance services will be provided during the program, so ensure your bike is in optimal condition before embarking on this adventure.

Mark your calendars for May 18th, set your alarms, and get ready to immerse yourself in the splendor of the Flint River Trail. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a novice explorer, this biking excursion promises an unforgettable journey through nature's wonders. We can't wait to see you there!
