Assistant County Attorney
Assistant County Attorney:
The Des Moines County Attorney is accepting applications for full-time Assistant County Attorney. The office is located in the City of Burlington which rests along the Mississippi River in southeast Iowa. The office has five (5) full-time assistants, in addition to the elected County Attorney.
Duties of the position will primarily include prosecution of misdemeanor prosecutions and felonies if previous sufficient prosecutorial experience, as well as juvenile delinquency matters. Des Moines County is a high volume office, so the duties of this position may change as needed if determined by the County Attorney.
Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa, expected to pass the bar in the spring, or qualify for admission if licensed in another state with reciprocity. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, as well as the ability to manage time effectively to oversee a large caseload. Prior prosecution experience is preferred but not required.
Starting salary is $72,000 per year for a newly licensed attorney, or commensurate with experience, as well as a competitive benefits package, including paid vacation, sick leave, a full healthcare plan, and licensure fees. Send cover letter, resume, and writing sample to:
