Big Hollow Campgrounds
Big Hollow Recreation Area is home to two campgrounds. A 16-site primitive campground and a 30-site RV campground currently under construction.

Primitive Campground
The primitive campground features 16 sites literally carved into the timber. For a rustic retreat, these sites are ideal. Though they offer no water or electric, each site is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Most sites have adjacent parking but for those wanting to avoid the crowds, there are several sites off the road, deeper into the timber. The campground features a pit toilet, a water hydrant with potable water and a self-registration station.

camperRV Campground
The brand new RV campground features 30 sites, all within walking distance of the lake. All sites feature gravel pads and will accomodate the largest campers on the market. The campground is still under construction as part of Des Moines County Conservation's capital campaign. The earthwork, roads, and camper pads were completed in the summer of 2012 and electricity was installed to the campsites in 2013. A central water station was installed to the campground in 2014. The next phase of development will install a dump station and wastewater treatment system. Additional planned amenities include a bathhouse and rental cabins.

Funding for this project relies on community support. Progress will only be made as funding allows so consider making a tax-deductible donation.
